Community Investment
Investing in Camden
what is cip?
The Council’s Community Investment Programme (CIP) was established in 2010. Since then, it has evolved significantly, ensuring the needs of Camden’s communities are put at the forefront of CIP objectives and adapting as needs change.

How it works
In 2022 Cabinet agreed to extend the programmes scale and ambition with a target of delivering 4850 homes, including 180 social rented homes. To date, the programme has delivered over 1700 homes, 70% of which are affordable new homes.
The Council works in partnership with our local community to deliver new homes which are safe, secure and designed to meet the diverse needs of our communities. We are building housing for the future, which is why our homes are well designed to be sustainable and more energy efficient.
The impact of CIP
Not just building homes, building futures
CIP is now one of the largest and most successful municipal housebuilding programmes in London and across the country. Through the programme, we are investing to ensure that Camden is a place for everyone.
CIP has built housing of all types and tenures, alongside new and improved schools, and community spaces where our vibrant communities can thrive. We have huge demand for good quality homes in the borough and we have proved we are able to build in response to that. We build to the highest standards and our homes are more than a match for the private sector.
Supporting the Council’s CIP programme is a key tool to support the delivery of this vision, and will be vital in realising the ambition that ‘Everyone in Camden should have place they call home’

“
Camden has a proud, rebellious spirit that throughout its history has seen communities come together to tackle problems, and to bring about real social change.
We want to make Camden a better borough – a place where everyone has a chance to succeed and where nobody gets left behind.
Together we will create a place that works for everyone and where everyone has a voice

Better London Living
CIP has consistently been at the forefront of local authorities seeking to build new homes; working with and learning from our communities to understand what is needed most. We continue to adapt and manage the programme to have the most impact on housing insecurity and the housing crisis as it impacts our residents and communities.
